+This wonderful antique mid-Victorian riding brooch is fashioned in 9ct gold and depicts a riding crop and leaping fox which has detailed fur texturing and a red ruby eye.
Riding jewellery was popular in the Victorian era and was usually worn by women of social standing who partook in activities such as riding or hunting and wore these pieces as a symbol of their love for the sport.
It’s a collectable little piece of history and complete with clear Birmingham hallmarks on the reverse which date it to 1872.
